A fabulous epic of deadly assassins, desperate journeys and the desire for vengeance ... Slave has been owned by Sondelle, and kept prisoner, since he was a child. Finally escaping through the catacombs, Slave is almost killed by a revenant warrior spirit. He gains his freedom only by swearing fealty to this dangerous creature. Befriended by Ileki, Slave begins to learn about the world outside. However, in a fight to the death, Slave discovers that the revenant warrior has given him a 'blessing' - a form of berserk rage that makes him virtually unbeatable in combat, but also makes him lethal to anyone in the immediate area, friends and foes alike. When he is left alone, Slave heads for Ileki's home city to make amends and seek help. Also heading for the same city are a number of other desperate runaways ... Meanwhile, an evil pirit imprisoned for centuries beneath a city finds its freedom ... and seeks its revenge. Bought the paperback in a bargain barrel. It was not a bargain. It is one of those books that start with several different strands that are presumably supposed to tie together at some stage. It made little sense from the start, but a couple of the 'strands' had me interested - Slave and the Eye - so I persevered. After around 1/4 of the book, I nearly threw it away, but as I happened to be away from home and it was the only book I had, I read on.But now I'm home, I have a library to choose from, and this book is going where it deserves to go - in the bin. I finished around 80% of the book, and it still made no sense. It is the first of a series, which carries the threat that one could read to the end, and still arrive at no satisfying conclusion. A poor book.

Slave of Sondelle The Eleven Kingdoms Book 1 eBook Bevan McGuiness Reviews
This book is like a breath of fresh air for the genre. Totally new concepts and a story that pulls you in and shakes you about like a ragdoll....One of those books where you have to have the sequel RIGHT NOW!!!
Richly written so you have no trouble imagining the scenes and settings. The characters are well developed and mixed with enough intrigue to keep you guessing but enough humour to endear the characters to you.
Background stories are intricately weaved through and blend beautifully!!!
Highly recommended.
